Phobia

"I will just grow my hair, and make a pony tail."

And this was from a cute colleague of us, K, a decent, yet funny man.

K had recently developed this phobia towards getting his hair cut. It was due to several unpleasant experiences he had with the barber shops in Sydney, where he was not entirely satisfied with his new haircuts. He thought he looked silly with the overly short haircut, though we thought it was not really that big a deal and he actually looked quite smart with it.

The other day, we went to Eastwood to do our grocery shopping together, where he happened to mention about his hair getting long and he was thinking of getting a haircut. However, he was obviously still being haunted by those past experience, in which he ended up just wandered outside the barber shops, hesitated, and left. It was then that I realized he indeed does mind a lot about his haircut, which kind of surprised me.

In my experience, for most of the men in their middle age, who’s settled down with a family and kids, who’ll just go shopping with slippers, shorts and T-shirts, who have started developing a tummy, would usually no longer care much about how they look physically, well not as in the sense of cleanliness of course, but it would seem to me that they would just not care much anymore about whether they have a good haircut or if they still look handsome. Just like my daddy, he would just simply visit any barber shop which offers the cheapest price in town, as long as they can get rid of the excessive hair and make him looks ‘tidy’, even though it would mean that he will get a good laugh from us when coming home with bad haircuts, he would be totally fine with it~ LOL

Anyway, now that I know my view was not entirely true. At least it isn't applicable to every man in that group. In fact, it seemed that everybody has got their own insecurity and phobia towards something, it is perfectly normal, and it doesn't really matter that much. What really matters is, whether one has the courage to admit it, the gut to face it, and the effort/will to overcome it.

And that's from where, we grow, and become stronger.

Have you got a phobia to share? :)

well, a very good way to solve this - stop looking at the mirror, and stop 自恋.

Yan,

避得一時唔避得一世o既喎~

You got to find a way to face and overcome it, then it won't be a matter anymore...

QingPoNek,

kakaka, ya noh, and forgot to mention the way daddy comb his hair -> comb to the front twice, then comb to the side, comb to the front twice again, and comb to the side.. 都唔知他想點!~ ^o^
